Hello there everyone! Did you guys know that in the time before the Internet, people used to look at text in ancient relics called "books"? I had no idea, but apparently Dinospy and Aliceandsven have the archeological wherewithal to know of several such tomes, and they'd like to share them with you!
All joking aside, A&S and DS came up with the idea for an Exploding Rabbit Book Club, and I think it's truly a fantastic plan. Books are a magical realm into which one can escape and forget one's earthly troubles, and since this is a community full of gamers I don't think that's too much of a stretch. There are many ways to go about it, but basically what's going to happen is this:
Pretty soon, a stickied thread will go up in Intelligent Discussion. This won't pertain to any book, it'll just be for us to decide which book we want to read first. Dino and I threw around some ideas, so I'll post those books, but please feel free to recommend your favorite, or something you think people will enjoy! Once we either come to a consensus or wind up voting on something, another stickied thread will be made specifically for that book, and the games will begin!
As far as pacing is concerned, we're still not really sure exactly how it will work. The likelihood is that each week we'll set either a page or chapter goal. We really want to avoid spoilers, so even if you read ahead, which is totally okay, we're going to try to keep conversation focused on points we've already passed collectively. Additionally, this is a decent way to facilitate discussion, since we'll be breaking down each part and sharing thoughts, as well as having a big cumulative discussion at the end.
This is so awesome, and I really can't thank Alice and Dino enough for suggesting it, especially since I know we have so many literary-inclined members on the forums. Please leave your thoughts in the comments, it's never too early to start getting excited!!
EDIT: The thread is up! Read on, my droogs!
