Hey all. I'm Astrofrog. You can call me anything you want, ranging from Astrofrog, to Frog, to your deity. I'm pretty lenient. Though I'm not a fan of Astro... Seems too cliche. Then again.. If you're going to call me Frog... you might as well call me Glenn. If you get that reference, you are awesome.

Anywho, that's all I got for now. If you want to know anything else, just ask.

But seriously, everyone always says that, but who ever actually asks a question?
  2. SalemSaibot Level 3: Paratroopa

why is the sky so high? well wait nvm anyways Im Salem welcome aboard.
  3. Dinospy_01 Level 11: Moderator

Welcome to the forums! Have fun and good luck.

Sorry Magus did that to you Frog...
  4. Astrofrog Level 2: Koopa

    Thank you both very much.
Is it high? If you stand on your head, it's actually quite low.
    Aha, you sir, are awesome.
  5. DeviantDiscordian Level 12: Super Mod

Welcome Astrofrog, and I'll probably simply call you Frog.
You will find that a large number of us are awesome then. Chrono Trigger is well liked by us and the game is made of win.
  6. J Squared Level 7: Bloober

I second what DeviantDiscordian declared. Chrono Trigger (CT) is pretty popular here. I've personally beaten the original, the PSX version, the DS version, its sequel Chrono Cross (CC) for the PSX, and I've played a bit of Radical Dreamers, a Satellaview-based game for the Super Famicom. I've also watched to the end the LP of project, it's still available on YouTube.

Hope this helps, and welcome to the forum.
  7. Astrofrog Level 2: Koopa

Thank you, DeviantDiscordian, and J Squared.

I do love Chrono Trigger, though my resume isn't as spectacular as yours, I've beaten the original and the DS version about three times now. I've heard of Chrono Cross, but never looked into it, because in my past experiences sequels haven't been as awesome as the original and I didn't want to dampen my relations with it.
  8. J Squared Level 7: Bloober

You don't need to worry about CC dampening your experience of CT for two reasons.

First, CC and CT have minimal relation to one another. Their relationship is similar to the relationship shared by Mother 2 (Earthbound) and Mother 3, where the gameplay is very similar, but the cast, characters, and world are different. If you go into it expecting CT you will be disappointed; but if you go into it expecting an experience very much like CT, you'll love it. The same is said by Masato Kato himself, who succinctly claims, in this November 1999 interview, that "Cross is Cross, and not Trigger 2." It's a spiritual sequel, and if approached as such, can be deeply appreciated.

Second, CC is a masterpiece of art. It's in the minority of games that are universally acclaimed (cf. Metacritic), and it's absolutely beautiful in every sense of the word. In my estimation, it is as awesome as the original, but with different characters in a different world. My only criticism of CC is the ending which, if I understand correctly, was rushed to meet deadlines. Were the game to have ended on the second-to-last boss instead of the last boss, it would've felt more epic. Everything else in the game, however, is solid gold, and you'd probably enjoy it a lot.

    Hope this helps.
  9. Astrofrog Level 2: Koopa

Well then, I shall have to hunt down a copy of it. Though if I remember correctly, it's on the original Sony Play Station. That may cause some problems.
  10. repairmanman Level 9: Spike Top

welcome to the forums, i'm sure you'll have a wonderful time

how about you check out NitroNintendo for a good time as well

    (inside joke)
  11. uglyrodent Level 9: Spike Top

I read the OP and I was like "I get the reference, I want to be awesome". And then everyone else beat me. As a point of fact, however, I hacked my Wii and got a texture for Smash Bros. the makes Marth look like Glenn.
Welcome AstroFrog. Thank you for joining the ranks of Adjective-Animal usernames. I hope you have a good time wondering why there was a bleeped out link to a can of spam.
    Really though, have fun.
  12. Ravior Level 8: Hammer Bro

Have you ever danced with Batman in the pale Batman Batman?

    Wait, wrong thread . . .

Uh, welcome to the forums, Glenn. I hope you enjoy the new and improved Oxy Clean that it this forum.

I want to play Chrono Trigger, but I don't have a good way to play it. I hope Nintendo releases it on the VC soon. I'M NOT POPULAR.
  13. Astrofrog Level 2: Koopa

Well, that just makes you that much awesomer.

You are quite welcome. Though I'm not entirely sure that "astro" is an Adjective...

Indeed I have. It's kept my up late at nights, I couldn't even look at my lunch today. I was very close to just breaking down and crying, and it was only posted four hours ago. The rest of the day should prove to be entertaining.

Ah, but this is what the internet was created for, my good man!

Anywho, thank you to all of you, seems like a friendly, if not entertaining place.
  14. J Squared Level 7: Bloober

Yep, you're right. Fun English fact: it's a bound morpheme, used in this context as a prefix. Semantically, it means "star," and is synonymous with "aster" (e.g. "asterisk") and "stella" (e.g. "stellate"). Hope this sheds light on stuff!
  15. uglyrodent Level 9: Spike Top

Hmm...that makes sense. Well, sucks for you Astro, you're out of the adjective-animal club. Me and Explodingrabbit are off to the club.
  16. J Squared Level 7: Bloober

"Exploding" is technically a present participle verb. It's an inflectionally-suffixed version of the base verb "explode," used in the active voice to describe what the rabbit is doing, rather than a property of the rabbit. You still qualify, though.

EDIT: You're still not all alone in the club. UnknownFox and twoDgecko will keep you company.
  17. uglyrodent Level 9: Spike Top

I'm...I"m just going to go sit in the corner and cry now.

    By myself.
  18. J Squared Level 7: Bloober

Well, for the record, we did have a discussion elsewhere in which I held that grammar Nazism is bad. You took a contrary position and told me that, if you made mistakes, you'd like to be corrected. While I'm not a big fan of needlessly correcting grammar, in this specific case I felt it was fitting because 1) you told me to, and 2) your post was declaring something specifically about grammar. I'll try to avoid repeating this situation in the future so that you can have a better board experience.
  19. uglyrodent Level 9: Spike Top

Oh no, I'm not really offended, so don't think that. I appreciate the corrections.

Although now, out of curiosity, I'm going to try to find as many people as possible with the name format I mentioned...

Anyway, have fun Astro Frog. I promise I won't derail your next topic.

    Ugly Rodent, AWAY!
  20. J Squared Level 7: Bloober

As a rerail, I'd like to point out that Frog and Magus are tied as my favorite Chrono Trigger (CT) characters. When I say Frog, I mean "Ye Olde Frog," from the original CT. The DS version somewhat stripped out his formal, honorary speech for reasons of fidelity to the Japanese script. Even without nostalgia-tinted glasses, I'm sure I'd prefer the 1995 localization. It adds so much to his character, and gave me a greater appreciation for the dialogue and story.
