What did the red ring and magic sword do when they were separate?
  2. aliceandsven Level 12: Super Mod

red ring gave you magicks swords beams

magic sword just increased your attack power

While I wouldn't say I "like" Link's bombs hurting him, they did so in the original. As a matter of fact, the blue ring removing that is actually a diversion from the original, strange when you consider it seems that the characters are being made to play more like their original game counterparts.
  4. aliceandsven Level 12: Super Mod

I like it because it makes Link unique (no one else can damage themselves).

I agree that Link's bombs should damage him. They always have in Zelda games, so it's only fair.

Maybe the Mushroom should be replaced by the Blue Ring?

It seems Jay could incorporate the Blue Ring into the Mushroom as a simple change in appearance, and then separate the Red Ring and the Magic Sword again and have the Red Ring grant Bomb immunity and the Magic Sword grant the Sword Beams. I don't like seeing the Magic Sword separate now. It seems like such an awesome item to have to get and see in your item list.

I like the Magic Sword too, but I think that it should stay combined with the Red Ring, but have the combined item be the Magic Sword rather than the Red Ring. A sword is more exciting to collect, it's more unique (we already have a ring), and since its functions are related to Link's sword, it makes more sense.
I actually posted about this in the Feature Request board:

What I mean is to get rid of the Mushroom and replace it with the Blue Ring. It can give both the White Sword and the Blue Tunic. It would obviously have the same function as the Mushroom.

Actually, I just went and tested, and BTB is very much right: Bombs do not hurt link in the original LoZ. You can drop one at your feet, and stand on it, and no damage at all. It was not until the SNES Link to the Past, that explosives began to hurt our green-garbed hero.
  11. TheomanZero Level 7: Bloober

Eh, I'm in no hurry to get rid of the Mushroom. I kind of like how that one Mario element still applies to all characters.
  12. World 1-1 Level 9: Spike Top

If the mushroom get replaced by the Blue Ring, it would be unfair with the other characters that have to run to take the mushroom, and would be weird if the Blue Ring moved like the mushroom.

there's so much blabla I don't have time to read it all. But basically...

Bombs hurting Link was surprising at first. For some reason ; maybe it's because side-scroller.
But then you realize they are bombs, not just kid toys, and you say "Oh ok, I won't make that mistake twice."

The Magic Sword and the Red Ring being merged into one power-up is a good thing, though it only makes half sense. But I'd keep it like this. It also reduces the whole load of power-ups, that's good. :)

Personally, when I experienced Link for the first time, I got the quiver BEFORE the bow. Awesome stuff. XD

By the way I didn't know there was a limit to the number of stuffs you can carry. I did not pay attention because when I played legitly, I died so much... Now I can't play without cheats. Otherwise I'd be super frustrated.

The Blue Ring wouldn't move. We can do that or make the Mushroom give you the blue tunic and white sword. The Blue Ring is kinda useless at it's state right now.
  15. Nemephosis Level 6: Lakitu

So in other words, the peashooter challenge with Bill on Very Hard is out of the question? :p
  16. Rey D Level 9: Spike Top

→ Never heard of that challenge before.

I find myself keeping the boomerang most of the time while I've got other stuffs. :p.
  17. Nemephosis Level 6: Lakitu

It's a relatively new one in the Challenges thread. I took it up, and it's doable. I mean it's quicker to just avoid stuff, but there are times you have no choice but to shoot them.
  18. SoulAmiss Level 0: Newbie

I can't figure out how to utilize Link's bombs.:\ Help?
  19. Thunder Wing Level 6: Lakitu

Press Select to change weapons and press the Special button to use them.
