actually that would probably be the only reason they would have Luigi in SMBC. I've never played the real SMB2, so I'd like to see him with those mechanics
It's frustrating, and I never beat it... Yet! Plus I always love to play as Luigi in it cause I'm much more used to Mario's mechanics.
Well, I think you should be given the option to move to the next difficulty when you win a game. If it's implemented, the SMBDX credits music could be played during the credits, and the "Princess Saved" theme could play when the press B message appeared. I really don't know about this SMBDX. It's really awesome and all, but at the same time I want SMBC to be as true to the original as possible. Animated water and lava would, along with looking good, be great for skinning purposes (It was animated in All-Stars as well) A world map would give the game a more "epic" feel, and plenty of opportunity to show off more of the characters' sprites. The Credits weren't in the original game, so replacing them with SMBDX-style credits would be fine with me (In fact, I recommend it) However, if my previous suggestion of getting to raise the difficulty at the end gets implemented, I'd say the credits should play if you refuse.
The poll has been up for long enough, the new name of this thread has been decided! Thanks to Repairmanman for the winning suggestion!
Some people have been asking for an original character. My idea is to have an alternate Mario based on his original gameplay mentioned here: http://andriasang.com/comqln/mario_original_control_scheme/
Since everyone else is getting upgrades, you know what would be a good one for Mario? Some fucking brakes. Every attempt I make to use him (or Luigi) ends with him dead in a pit fifty feet past the point I told his stupid ass to stop running. All joking aside, the Mario Bros. are simply horrid to control next to everyone else. And the addition of Luigi makes getting stuck with one of these guys randomly much more likely than it was before. I say that If you really want to play Mario was he was meant to be played in Super Mario Bros., you'd probably be playing Super Mario Bros. Here, perhaps both Mario *and* his brother could stand to control like they did in SMB2/3.
In total agreement there with mario and luigi needing a little less slide, I also find about 70% of the time that they don't jump while running which is infuriating to say the very least. I don't remember them controlling this badly in version 1.0
Wha? Mario and Luigi control fine. I've never had any problems with either of them beyond my own incompetence with Luigi (which is entirely my own fault; he still does exactly what he's supposed to). Then try stopping earlier to compensate? SMB was heavily based around Mario's momentum and how it affected his jumps. Making him stop instantaneously is counterproductive to this point. And I say if you really want to play Ryu as he was meant to be played, you'd probably be playing Ninja Gaiden.
Mario: The buttmonkey of his own game Right now, Luigi jumps much higher than he does, minus the huge skid. In fact, he stops almost on a dime. This makes him absolutely superior to Mario, as anything Mario can do, Luigi can, and he jumps better without the downside. Mario is officially scum tier. lol.
