X and Zero are best friends and partners. That videos were Zero become maverick because of virus, so X will stop it and they fight. Here's the difference of between X and Zero of there abilities. I think Zero, he's able to do both close range combat and long range combat. And i just like dashing up close to enemies and annihalating them instead of shooting them from afar, personal preference though ;3
Canonically X has whopped Zero a couple times. Zero also admits that X is stronger than him, and no kidding. He has a fucking wardrobe of pain to choose from and extreme long range offense. It's hard to say because Zero's character has changed so much. In X3 he was also a long range fighter and his saber attack was instant kill. Later on he almost entirely lost the buster attack (he still has it in some games but it's worse than X3) and the saber is not as powerful. But I think the point of X1 was to show that X surpasses Zero as he gets the First Armor (watch the Egoraptor video about X, he explains this well). Light hid the First Armor because he was so afraid of how powerful X would be with it.
I choose X, it only makes sense. In X4, (not the sole reason I chose) Cyber Peacock goes on to describe that X has infinite potential. X is always getting stronger since the beginning, while Zero doesn't start getting powerups until way later in the storyline. Whether it's based on skills or upgrades, X has the advantage in every way.
