No, it's fine how it is. 8 vote(s) 22.2%

Microsoft could have done a much better job making it, even for a free program. It has so many problems that I just can't stand. At one point I used it for all my photo editing (it was much more minimal then) but now that I've tried Photoshop, using that abomination at all is just impossible.

And the "it's free" argument doesn't work well when you have so many free photo editing programs that are actually up to par.

But anyway, I put Duckerdoo's sprites on a transparent background:

I see what you mean now about the not being able to see the black lines. That's only because of the almost black forum background. Right click and open the image in a new tab and it'll be on a white background.

What's with the white dots? But thanks for the fix. After I clean out my junk, and stuff, I may look for a better program. *tosses paint into the lava*

What REALLY annoys me is the fact that Mario's fireballs is the only weapon that can't destroy blocks.

I actually prefer it this way. It helps to make Mario unique among the other characters, and if Mario's fireballs could destroy bricks, it would be dangerous to start spamming them as it would potentially create a lot of pits very quickly.

If this feature was highly desired by the community, one option would be to have Mario destroy bricks with his fireballs (or some other attack) by pressing the Special button. But this of course would steer him far from his classic gameplay.

I would prefer it as a cheat.

But not unique in a GOOD way, it makes him even more of a buttmonkey than he already is. And there are no places in the game were breakable bricks substitutes the unbreakable ones as floor.

Actually, let me put it another way: What REALLY annoys me is the fact that every weapon BUT Mario's fireballs can destroy blocks. I mean, it's okay that Simon can, because he could in his own game, but Sophia and Samus and (possibly) Link could only destroy bricks with certain weapons and i don't even think there were any breakable blocks in Ninja Gaiden and Contra and Mega Man.

I say that we listen to Please and make it a cheat.

Added "One Hit Kill Bricks" cheat to the Wiki.

I agree with this 100%. I think that things that can break bricks should be able to one-shot them, but I think a lot less things should be able to break bricks in the first place.

I haven't played much Ninja Gaiden or Contra but I can confirm that there are breakable blocks in Mega Man but he needs a certain weapon in order to break them.

I just think it should take as many hits as in the original games, but thanks for your support.

    The more you know...

Not sure if this is new in v2.0, but if you jump into the brick it loses all its health. Not sure if it's a bug or a feature. Best noticed with Bass on Extreme who normally needs 4 shots to destroy a brick.

If you're changing JUST bricks? I would make them break in one hit. I mean, they ARE just bricks.

edit: Ah geez, I didn't know just how old this thread was. I guess if it was going to be changed it would have by now. Who's the foul necromancer who raised this from the dead?

edit 2: Oh, the guy above me. *shakes fist in menacing "I'ma getcha" fashion*

Well, it's really annoying sometimes, but what if we put a fixed brick damage for all dificulties?
  14. Crownjo Level 6: Lakitu

Maybe make that feature as a cheat. But making Mario's fireballs to break bricks would make him worst...
  15. Narematto Level 2: Koopa

Yes, I am agree with you.
And as a cheat, there could be too, when he runs very fast, (when it is high, it could break all the bricks that are in its path).
  16. TheomanZero Level 7: Bloober

Er, no. That's just kind of ridiculous.
I agree that Mario's fireballs shouldn't break blocks -- remember, they're angled downward.
