Super Mario Bros. 3 Crossover

  1. TheomanZero Level 7: Bloober

I don't think this would really work, at least not as well as SMBC. I mean, SMB was designed for a character who can swim and dash, yet in SMBC, most characters lack these abilities but can beat the game anyway (with the addition of a couple in platforms in the water stages, but none in the water bonus areas), which is remarkable if you think about it. Furthermore, Ryu can't jump as high as the other characters, but he can still get everywhere he needs to be with his climbing ability, which may sound like a certainty but is not: if a gap was too wide for Ryu to jump, or a floating platform too high with no wall nearby, Ryu would be sunk.
SMB works so well with characters it wasn't designed for because it's such a simple game. SMB3 is much more complex, especially with water. You'd either need a lot more platforms or make changes to the characters to make them more like Mario, which would detract from the point of the game. Plus, how would Sophia handle slopes?
  2. Captain Knight Level 9: Spike Top

Well, SMB can use characters that fits SMB, and SMB3 can use whole different characters that fit SMB3, u know what I mean??
  3. roman6a Level 8: Hammer Bro

    Low G Man
  4. Mars312 Level 0: Newbie

This will be great. Just hope Jay sees this idea.
  5. TheomanZero Level 7: Bloober

He's not going to do it. He's got lots of work to do already, and this would probably be more work than all of SMBC.

When did Jay said he's never going to make it?

I doubt he has seen this thread, but seeing how much work it would be, I highly doubt he'd make that.

But the problem is also that we would have to find new powerup ideas for each character since there aren't only FIre Flowers anymore.
  10. Eric Thorstad Level 2: Koopa

This is one of those "It would be awesome" kinds of things. Don't get me wrong, I would love to play SMB3 as a cross-over game.

In fact, now that I think about it, I would REALLY love that. COME ON JAY!! YOU CAN DO IT!!
  11. ZeroEdgeir Level 4: Buzzy Beetle

As it stands, Jay is working on a completely original project now (barring bug fixes for SMBC 2.0). After that game comes out, we will be getting the Lost Levels added to SMBC. Beyond that is anyone's guess.

Would it be cool? Hell yes. With the change to how power-ups work in v2.0, it wouldn't be a huge issue for most other characters in relation to Mario and Luigi getting all the fun powers (Raccoon Leaf, Tanooki Suit, Frog Suit, and Hammer Suit).

Would be fun, cause of the inventory system from the mushroom houses. But I will agree, it is FAR longer a game than SMB, with much bigger levels (both horizontal and vertical scrolling too!).
