I'm a fan of GnG, but I don't much care for Arthur's NES sprites. It just isn't Arthur if he's not wearing strawberry boxers.
Since everyone else has NES sprites, he should too. He can have arcade and 16 bit skins too. Also his shorts has hearts not strawberries. Lol
Arthur would be a fantastic addition! Good memories of Ghosts 'n Goblins from my youth (despite never finishing the game). Bit frustrating at times, but still highly enjoyable!
Au contraire! Actually, merchandise and cameos tend to depict them as heart boxers, but as seen above, in the official artwork it's always been strawberries. In Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins and Marvel vs. Capcom 3, they're actually visible in-game.
I stand corrected. I only paid attention to the merchandising art. Then I played Maximo and that solidified my assumption.
Well, you're not the only person to make that mistake (I also did, for a while). And Maximo is a separate character from Arthur, with his own distinct taste in undergarments.
Back on topic, here's how I envision Arthur working. Like Bill, he doesn't get a mushroom. This is because he starts with his extra hit point, the armor. If he loses it, the next powerup he gets will always be replacement armor instead of another weapon.
Well, we could just make the Mushroom act as the replacement armor, to keep him more in line with other characters. Having him start with it would be appropriate, though.
I think this sounds perfect. There's no reason he can't start with the Mushroom. It's a bit different, but it works very well for the character.
There's no need for the mushroom. The armor serves the same purpose. It provides an extra hit point. He would begin with the armor.
Yeah, but since everyone else gets their extra hit points from Mushrooms, he might as well get his Armor from a Mushroom. He would still begin with it, but if he took damage, he would get it back from a Mushroom.
arthur is a bit similar to megaman, so i dont think he is worthy of being a character, just like pit being too similar to samus
Maybe in the original Ghosts 'n Goblins, but if he had his weapon aiming from Ghouls 'n Ghosts and his double jump from Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts (which would probably be necessary for him anyway), that would make him a bit more distinct.
We already have Bass, who I think is just as similar to Mega Man. And we've got Luigi, who is Mario with slightly different physics applied and that's all. I don't think the similarities there would disqualify Arthur as a character.
I'm assuming he (she?) is one of those people who complained about getting Arthur instead of Mega Man in Marvel vs. Capcom 3. I still think no Mega Man fan has the right to complain when they got Zero, the greatest character in the entire Mega Man franchise.
Ok ok, i is sorry for what i said, as i just played ghosts and ghouls and realized they are quite dfferent. Plz dont throw a fit at me and say ima idiot. Oh BTW, i never played MVC 1,2,3 or ultimate.
It's okay. I was just glad to finally see GnG get some recognition, so when the Mega Man fanboys complained about him it really irritated me.
