Bass, known as Forte (フォルテ Forute) in Japan, is a character in Super Mario Bros. Crossover. He comes from the Mega Man series. He was added on February 10, 2012 as part of the 2.0 update.

Controls

  • Pressing the Left or Right buttons will cause Bass to move left or right.
  • Pressing the Jump button will cause Bass to jump. Pressing the Jump button in mid-air will allow Bass to double jump.
  • Pressing Down+Jump will cause Bass to dash.
    • Pressing Jump while dashing will cause Bass to dash-jump (higher horizontal velocity than normal jump).
  • Pressing the Attack button will cause Bass to shoot his buster.
    • Pressing any direction will allow Bass to shoot in that direction. However, Bass is locked in place when firing.
  • Pressing the Special or Select allows Bass to change his weapon. Special cycles to the right, Select cycles to the left.

Power-ups

Bass Buster
  • Allows Bass to shoot up to three shots at once rapidly in seven different directions
    • Damage: 50
  • Bass begins with this
Mushroom
  • Provides Bass with one extra hit
  • Allows Bass to pick up other weapons
  • Restores half of the weapons lost from getting hit
  • Gives Bass the ability to have four shots on screen at once
Super Arm
  • Allows Bass to lift and throw bricks
    • Cost: 2 units
    • Damage:
      • Brick: 800
      • Debris: 250
Hard Knuckle
  • Shoots Bass' fist and can be steered slightly up and down
    • Pierces armor
    • Cost: 2 units
    • Damage: 800
Pharaoh Shot
  • Throws a ball of energy that can be thrown in six different directions
    • Cost: 1 unit
    • Damage: 150
  • Can be charged
    • When charged, a large damage-dealing ball of energy floats above Mega Man's head
    • Cost: 2 units
    • Damage:
      • Medium charge: 200
      • Full charge: 400
Charge Kick
  • Allows Bass to damage enemies while dashing
    • Cost: 1 unit
    • Damage: 350
Flame Blast
  • Shoots a ball of flame that creates a temporary pillar of fire when it touches the ground or a wall
    • Cost: 1 unit
    • Damage: 350
Magma Bazooka
  • Shoots three bolts of fire that spread outward
    • Cost: 1/2 unit
    • Damage: 100/bolt
  • Can be charged with a Mushroom
    • Damage:
      • Medium charge: 200
      • Full charge: 300
Water Shield
  • Creates a barrier of eight bubbles that circle around Bass
    • Pressing the Attack button will cause the bubbles to shoot outward from Bass
    • Cost: 4 units (to create shield, costs nothing to shoot the shield)
    • Damage: 275/bubble
Screw Crusher
  • Throws up to four spinning blades in an arc
    • Cost: 1/2 unit
    • Damage: 175
Weapon Energy Balancer [*]When collecting weapon energy pellets or capsules, the energy goes to the weapon with the least remaining energy if Bass has no weapon equipped or his current weapon is full
Weapon Energy Pellet / Capsule
  • Restores weapon energy to the weapon Bass currently has equipped
    • Pellets restore 2 units
    • Capsules restore 10 units
Starman
  • Bass becomes invincible for a limited time, enabling him to defeat enemies by touching them
  • Grants Bass unlimited weapon energy for the duration of the invincibility

Original Game

Bass' first appearance was in Mega Man 7 for the Super Nintendo, but his appearance and gameplay in Super Mario Bros. Crossover are based on Mega Man 10. His double jump comes from Mega Man & Bass.
