Super Retro Squad is a 2D retro platformer featuring gameplay and characters inspired by classic Nintendo games. You can view the original Kickstarter page for a lot more info about the game.
The game will feature 45+ levels that will be spanned across 9 worlds. Each world will be based on one of the characters, so there will be plenty of variety found in the environments and enemies. There will also be an equipment and upgrade system that will allow you to customize your character’s abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. We also plan on tying everything together with a cool story that will be explained through dialog and cut scenes.
We’re still offering some of the rewards from the Kickstarter through Paypal. They’re listed below.
$15 – A digital copy of the full game when it’s released (DRM-free on Mac, Pc, Linux and Steam if accepted), access to the documentary episodes about the development of the game, and access to a private forum with inside info from the developers. You’ll also get your name on the website as a backer of the project, a Super Retro Squad desktop wallpaper, and a silly thank you dance video. To see what you’d be getting, here is a list of current backer updates and a Backer Update RSS Feed. Backer updates are released biweekly.
$30 – A DRM free download of the game’s soundtrack. This includes both 8-bit and 16-bit versions of every song. You’ll also get an HD download of the documentary series and access to special features and clips. You will also get all previous rewards.
$50 – You will receive access to beta versions of the game. This will allow you to give us feedback and influence the final product. Your name will also be listed in the game’s credits under ‘Special Thanks’. You will also get all previous rewards.
$200 – Your name will be written in coins in a secret area of the game. All players will have a chance of finding this area. You’ll also receive three additional digital copies of the game for family and friends. You will also get all previous rewards.
$500 – A statue of you with a commemorative plaque will be placed near your name written in coins. The plaque will be readable in the game. An NPC (nonplayer character) based on you will walk around near the statue and admire it. You will also get all previous rewards.
$1,000 – A skin (alternate costume) of you will be made for a character of your choice and will be playable in the game by entering a secret code. You’ll also be able to write a line of custom dialog for your NPC and players will be able to read it when they talk to your character. You will also get all previous rewards.
Please select a tier and enter the email address you used when signing up for the forums in the box. It may take a few days before private forum access is granted because it is a manual process for us. If you still don’t have access after a few days, contact us.
Also, it is possible the documentary might not be made because we have still not seen an episode completed. It is not within our control because it is not made by us. If you decide to back the project, do it for the game, not the documentary.
It’s part 6 in the “Playing My Own Game” series for “Super Mario Bros. Crossover,” and I just can’t stop talking about sushi.
This montage shows clips from all of my previous videos… and some of them are pretty weird.
